A fairer and more sustainable future? it also starts with textiles

Ethical and sustainable textiles: the future according to Slow Fiber

A fairer and more sustainable future? It also starts with textiles.

There is a vision of the future that we like to imagine and build every day: a future where beauty, ethics and responsibility move in the same direction. This is the vision at the heart of the first National Slow Fiber Congress, held on November 7, 2025, in Turin at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo.

An important gathering for the textile world, bringing together entrepreneurs, students, institutions and industry experts to reflect on how we produce, choose and live more consciously.

l’Opificio and Slow Fiber: together for cultural change

At l’Opificio, members of the Slow Fiber network since its very beginning, we proudly took part in this moment of dialogue and inspiration. Because we truly believe that the future of interiors and textiles depends on ethical, sustainable and responsible choices.

During the Congress, discussions focused on conscious consumption, dignity of work, education, the role of new generations and the power of beauty. But not beauty for its own sake — rather, a beauty that cares, respects and endures.

Words that matter

Carlo Petrini, founder of Slow Food, opened the event with a clear message:

“Just as we have regenerated our relationship with food, now it is time to regenerate our relationship with what we wear and with what we choose to furnish our homes.”

Dario Casalini, President of Slow Fiber, added:

“Today, it is no longer enough to talk about sustainability. What we need is a true cultural transformation, grounded in concreteness, creativity and respect.”

Words that resonate deeply with our daily work — guiding the way we create, design and offer beautiful, healthy and long-lasting fabrics and velvets.

Textiles that make a difference

Choosing an l’Opificio fabric means believing in design with a positive impact — design that supports a fairer economy and protects the beauty of our planet.

It means choosing:

  • carefully selected raw materials
  • ethical and transparent supply chains
  • quality made to last over time
  • 0% formaldehyde

Do your part, starting from your home

If you believe that furnishing your space is a value-driven choice, then you are in the right place.

Every metre of fabric can be an act of responsibility.

Choose what is beautiful, ethical and made to last. Make a difference — together with us.
