It is one of the most sophisticated textiles, synonymous of tradition and innovation, precious symbol of the strong connection between haute couture and design. The silk velvet has always played a key role in the history of interiors, fashion and luxury.
Soft, luminous and extremely precious: silk is the result of a sophisticated weaving process that makes it one of the most noble and exclusive textile.
l’Opificio silk velvet collection is a rich and precious collection, the result of a long processing time, starting in the Far East, where we choose the silkworm’s finest fibre.
Our silk velvet is the result of a long-lasting process, for this reason we call it Slow Velvet.
A fibre that is worked exclusively in Italy through long and slow processes of selection, dyeing and drying, which take more than 20 days. Slow and thorough processes, that avoids to the fibre any kind of stress enhancing to its best shininess and softness, without adding formaldehyde.
Once the yarn is ready, silk will be weaved and transformed into velvet. A process carried on by expert weavers, which takes around 60 hours of diligent weaving.
But it’s not over yet: l’Opificio quality requires 5 more days of different finishing, which, thanks to expert hands and old machineries, will make the velvet pile soft and smooth and will enhance its silky aspect.
Only thanks to this long and careful process, which is almost a month long, l’Opificio can assure a precious, unique and safe quality, which is also long lasting and loved all over the world.
Our silk velvet collection wraps the most precious interiors with glamour. More than 41 colour variant sallow dressing any interior, classical or modern, in accordance with the trends.
The Silk Velvet must dry cleaned only to maintain unchanged in time, the special iridescent and unique brilliance.
You shall use the velvet always in the pile direction, which means the direction where the velvet results softer when stroking the pile.
We recommend to dry-cleaning the velvets, for a deep cleaning, with the support of professional operators, every four or five years.
For the regular maintenance, you can remove dust or dirt with the help of a soft brush (a cloth brush will be perfect).
In the case you should use a detergent, we suggest to use one with PH neutral, testing it before in a small hidden piece to check colour resistance and specific reactions.
